Question 7

7-Looking Back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Question 6 - Technology

6-  a) what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

For this question, Georgina and Danica discussed the programmes we used when producing our thriller. The main programmes that we used were Photoshop, final cut pro and Garage band.

This is an introduction of Final Cut Pro.

Here, Georgina is explaining how we used garageband. We used garageband to create our soundtrack for our thriller film.

Here Danica explains how to we used photoshop, We used photoshop to edit our police documents that were used throughout the opening sequence of our film.

Here, Danica explains the search engines we used and how we used blogger as our book to display all of our research and planning we did throughout producing our thriller.
Throughout our thriller we used different types of programmes to try and get the best result for our thriller, photoshop helped us make the police documents look quite old and when adding the effect over the top - bad film - they helped make the thriller look mysterious. Also final cut pro helped us to put all of our thriller together and tweak up any loose ends. If we were to do this task again, we would use the same programme as it helped to make our thriller effective.

b) For the next part of the question, Georgina & Danica explained the equipment that we used in our thriller:

Here, Danica is explaining the camera that we used to film our thriller.

Georgina is explaining the kind of lights that we used.

& Lastly, Danica explains the tape that we used in our camera and where she brought it from.

5-How did you attract/address your audience?

When finishing our Thriller we had to make sure we got feedback so we knew what we did right and what we needed to change if ever do it again.
We put our thriller up on to You Tube so that it can be watching by anyone around the world, and anyone can feedback. We have also gave the web address to everyone we know so they can have a look at what we have completed.

We did get a comment on our You Tube and it was from A film director him self.

Question3

3-What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

There are 2 main music distributers that we wanted to produce our film, however as they only produce high budget films it means we had to think about the lower budget film producers as we only had a small budget to create our film, such as Metrodome. The first distributer is Universal and the second is Metro Goldwyn Mayer.

Question 2

1-How does your media product represent particular social group?

Andrea Nicholls
Age: 17
Occupation: Photographer

Age: 58
Occupation: Killer
I have decided to compare Andrea who is the Photographer in our thriller film the ending to the character known as Kim Basinger. The reasons why I have decided to compare these two is because there are many similarities between them.
Andrea in the film takes pictures of her murder victims and places her next victim on the murdered person. In the LA Confidential, Kimila Basinger who is known in the film as Lynn Bracken. She is the killer in the film. Everyone else in the film got the blame for the killing. In our thriller film Andrea is very mysterious and isn’t seen much. There are some parts in which they are not the same, there costumes in which they wear are not the same. Kim Basinger in the film wears very tight revealing costumes. Andrea in our thriller film wears all black and very dark clothing.
Here is a Picture of Kim Basinger:

Kimila Ann Basinger

Question 1

Question 1- In what was does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The characters:

The location:

The fonts:

 1. For the first font, I chose one called Acogessic, I chose this because it is bold and looks like part of it has been shot with a gun which fits in well with our thriller film.

2. This title also fits in well with our theme of photography as it looks like the effect we used - bad film/tv.

3. This font was called Ball Tongue and it was not one of our final choices, as it didnt fit in that well with the theme of our thriller.
4.  This title is called Puls Sans Virgin, it also refers back to the effect we used throughout the thriller, bad film/tv.
5. This title was one of our personal favourites called, Headshot as it went in well with the theme of photography and also filming in general as it looks like a clapper board which would attract an audience, however we didn't end up using it. It also refers to the name of a shot which refers back to photography.
6. This title also looks like it has been shot at with a gun which relates back to our thriller film.
7. We didnt really like this font in the end as it didnt really fit in well with the theme of our thriller and was too basic, it wouldn't interest the audience as much as the others would so we decided against using it.
8. Sacraficial also is another interesting title that we thought about using as it looks quite mysterious and so it would refer back to the mysterious character in our thriller.
9. This title is called, Dinstik and didn't really fit in well with our thriller but as it was quite bold and stood out we thought it would look good in our film, however we didnt use it.

We decided against using any of these fonts as it was quite tricky to transfer them over to final cut pro, and also we were of limited time which means it would of taken too long to try and download these first and then try and use them in our thriller. In the end we decided to use quite a basic yet effective font called Typewriter, it fitted in well with our theme and was quite mysterious at the same time. If we were to do this task again, I think we would use either Ball Tongue or Headshot as they went well with the theme of our thriller, being photography and mystery.
